When you launch a Microsoft game, you receive the error below:
“The file d3dx9_27.dll was not foundâ€
Cause
The error appears when (1) the DLL file listed in the error message is corrupted, or (2) the file was copied incorrectly.
Resolution
- Install the most current DirectX
You can fix the issue by installing the current DirectX End-User Runtimes Web Installer from the Microsoft website.

- Locate and open the X:\DirectX9 folder.
Note: “X†here stands for your CD/DVD drive. - Double click Apr2005_d3dx9_27_x86.cab.
- Locate and right click d3dx9_27.dll and then click Copy.
- Navigate and double click Y:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Game Name
Note: “Y†here is the drive on which you have saved your game, and “Game Name†represents the game with which you are getting the error. - Right click on an empty space, and select Paste.
