- There are some problems in the registry.
- Your computer is infected with a spyware or a backdoor.
Fix AdvrCntr Errors
First and foremost, search for and download the DLL that has gone faulty from the Internet, copy it to its location on the PC, and re-register it by using the Regvr32 command (“Regsvr32 /i <Full_DLL_Name>).
If this does not work, then open the Add or Remove Programs window from the Control Panel, select the Nero AG option from the displayed list, and then select the Change button. In the dialog box displayed, select the option that enables you to repair Nero installation on your computer. The repair process will detect the problems with AdvrCntr.dll and repair them.
In case the whole installation is corrupt, or you have recently changed to a new version of the Nero, then you may perform the following tasks to repair the error:
First, uninstall Nero by using the option available in the Add or Remove Programs window. Next, on Start > Run type Prefetch to open the Prefetch folder.
Note: The Prefetch folder is used by your Windows XP computer to optimize the application loading process. XP studies and analyses your previous patterns and uses this folder to prefetch the files required to load drivers used regularly.
In the Prefetch folder, select all files, right-click, and select Delete to remove these files from the folder.
Next, open Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools. Next, from Start > Run, execute the “sfc /scannow” command. Once the process is complete, restart your PC.
Next, use a registry cleaner utility to scan the registry for errors and repair them. As registry problems are a major cause of DLL errors, this is an important step. You can use a reliable registry cleaner, such as RegServe to automatically scan the registry and fix the inherent errors. You may also use the registry defragment option to defrag the registry to make it compact and contiguous.
Finally, update your antispyware and antivirus software and scan your PC for possible malware infections. Many spyware and backdoors copy malicious executables to your computer that have names similar to the legitimate processes that usually run on your computer. Running the scan will help you check your PC for such infestations and remove them.
After you have performed all of the above tasks, restart your PC and reinstall your Nero software to repair the Advrcntr2.dll error.
