Fix Acrobat Error 1311 Data1.cab

One of the following error messages may be displayed on your Windows computer when you try to install the Adobe Acrobat application on it:

"Error 1311. Source file not found: [drive_letter]:\ Adobe Acrobat [version]\data1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

“Error 1335. Source file not found: [drive_letter]:\ Adobe Acrobat [version]\data1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.”

“Error 2350. Source file not found: [drive_letter]:\ Adobe Acrobat [version]\data1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.”

Additionally, if you click Retry in the error message box, the following message may display:

Cannot find the file Adobe Acrobat [version]\data1.cab

Cause of the Errors

Error 1311 data1.cab and other errors in this case may occur when one of the following is true:

  • The Acrobat Installer program fails to access the required program setup files from the program setup CD-ROM.
  • Installation files are in a compressed state.
  • An antivirus utility installed on your system is interfering with the setup process.

Resolution Method

Depending on the cause, you may use one of the following methods to resolve the issue:

Method 1: Ensure that your Acrobat CD-ROM is not damaged

Your system will not be able to read the setup files from the CD-ROM if it has dirt deposits on it. So, check your disk, and if it is dirty, clean it with a lint-free, soft cloth.

Method 2: Uninstall and then Reinstall your CD/DVD-ROM Drive

  1. Open Start menu, select Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box and then click the OK button.
  2. In the System Properties dialog box, display the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button.
  3. In the Device Manager window, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
  4. Right-click all devices listed in this section one-by-one and then select Uninstall.
  5. Click the OK button to confirm your decision.
  6. To ensure complete removal of CD/DVD drive driver files, it is recommended that you use a registry tool, such as RegServe to clean your registry and remove any orphaned driver files.

  7. After you are done, exit the Device Manager window and restart your computer.
  8. When Windows restarts, your CD/DVD drive will be automatically detected and reinstalled on the system.

  9. After the CD/DVD installation is complete, insert your Acrobat setup CD and install the software.

Method 3: Copy setup files to the Desktop and then install Acrobat

  1. Insert the Acrobat Setup CD in your CD/DVD drive.
  2. Create a new folder on the desktop.
  3. Copy all setup files on the CD to this new folder.
  4. After the copy/paste process is complete, open the folder and then double-click on the Setup.exe file.
  5. Follow the instructions given on the screen to complete the setup process.

Method 4: Extract the installation files from the compressed format

  1. Right-click on the compressed folder comprising the installation files, and then select Extract All.
  2. Follow the instructions given on the screen to complete the process.
  3. After the extraction process is complete, open the folder comprising the extracted files and then double-click on the Setup.exe file.
  4. Follow the instructions given on the screen to complete the setup process.

Method 5: Disable your Antivirus utility

To prevent Acrobat installation problems due to antivirus software installed on your computer, you must temporarily disable it, before proceeding with the installation. You may view the documentation of your antivirus utility to find out how to disable it.

Warning: When you disable your antivirus utility, you place your computer at risk of getting infected by virus and other malware programs. This is the reason why, you must remember to re-enable the utility after completing the Acrobat installation.
