Fix “Applesyncnotifier.exe not able to locate component”

Applesyncnotifier.exe, or Apple Synchronization Notifier, is associated with the MobileMe software from Apple, Inc. It is a background service and is installed on your computer when you install/upgrade to iTunes 7.7 or later, or when you install MobileMe on your Windows computer. The MobileMe software helps you to synchronize data on iPod, iTouch, and/or iPhone with your desktop computer or laptop.

File Information

Usually, the file is located in the Program Files\apple\mobile device support\bin folder. The most common size of this file in Windows XP is 111,936 bytes. You may also find the file in 177,472, 47,408, 177,440, 116,040, 47,904, and 47,392 bytes sizes.

By default, applesyncnotifier.exe starts automatically every time you start Windows. You can find an entry related to this process in the following place in your registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Error

You may receive the following error when you restart Windows, try to use iTunes, or attempt to synchronize your iPod, or other Apple products.

“AppleSyncNotifier.exe - unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because CoreFoundation.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.”

Solution

There are different ways through which you can resolve this problem. Here are the three most-effective methods of fixing this issue.

Method 1 – Remove Applesyncnotifier.exe from your Startup Programs

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Run.
  3. Type msconfig in the Open dialog box, and then press Enter.
  4. Click Startup.
  5. Locate and clear the checkbox before applesyncnotifier.exe.
  6. Click Apply to save your changes.
  7. Click OK to exit the System Configuration dialog box.

In case you don’t see the applesyncnotifier.exe in the list of your Startup programs, download autoruns and run the program. Click on the Everything tab, and clear the checkbox before applesyncnotifier.exe and corefoundation.dll.  Finally, reboot your Windows computer. The error will not appear again.

Method 2 – Uninstall MobileMe Software

If you don’t use MobileMe, it is best that you uninstall the software to fix the above-mentioned error.  To uninstall MobileMe, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Locate and select MobileMe in the currently installed programs list.
  5. Click Uninstall/Remove.

Method 3 – Uninstall and Reinstall iTunes and QuickTime

You can also fix the issue by uninstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other Apple software from your computer and then reinstalling the software.
