If you said yes to both questions, this registry tweak for Windows XP is perfect for you. This tweak will remove the IE error reporting tool from appearing. You no longer have to click “No” because the message won’t be appearing again.
Since you will be modifying your registry, you should be sure to create a back-up before making any changes to your registry. The back-up allows you to revert to your original settings should any issue arise.
Here are the steps to follow.
- Click on
Startand go toRun. Enterregedit. A box will pop up on screen. - Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEfound on the left side of the box. Expand the folder. - Look for
Software. Expand this folder to take you toMicrosoft. - Expand
Microsoftand look forInternet Explorer. - Once you have expanded
Internet Explorer, go toMain. - Now look at the right side of the box. In the right hand pane look for
IEWatsonEnabled. If the value is present, go to step seven. If the value is not present, create it. Follow the steps below to createIEWatsonEnabled… - Right click on the right hand pane of the box.
- Select
Newand then selectDWORD. - Rename the value
IEWatsonEnabled. Or, you can right click on the new DWORD value and selectRename. - Double click on
IEWatsonEnabled. A little box will pop up. Enter0as your value data. - Look at the right side of the box again. Look for
IEWatsonDisabled. If the value is present, go to step nine. If the value is not present, createIEWatsonDisabledby following instructions bnelow… - Right click on the right hand side of the box.
- Select
Newand then selectDWORD. - Rename the new value
IEWatsonDisabled. You can also right click on the newDWORDvalue you created and selectRename. - Double click on
IEWatsonDisabled. A box will pop up. Enter1in the value data field. - Exit the registry and reboot.
